Institution of Engineering & Technology refurbishment progress update

Tuesday 20th January 2015
Work is progressing at a rapid pace on the £20 million refurbishment of the Institution of Engineering and Technology building in Savoy Place in London. The new building is due for handover in August 2015 and is now really starting to take shape and give a glimpse of how it will eventually look.
Gilbert-Ash has completed the structural reconfiguration for the building and we are now commencing the fit-out. We are starting the high level work in the lecture theatre including the lighting gantry, as well as high level works in the new Watson Watt theatre.
Good progress is also being made on the Member’s First area, where the partition walls are in place and the high level first fix services are complete. The design of all the furniture for the Faraday Library has been completed and is soon going to products.
On the external façade of the building the restoration of the East and South elevations is now completed and new replacement steel windows have been installed.
The video below shows a fly-through of how the building will look with the new interior features, technology and conferencing facilities, as well as the amazing view the building has over the city.
