15 ways to become more eco-friendly around the home- another than recycling

1.Turn off the lights whenever you leave a room
2.Don’t turn the lights on for as long as you can, enjoy the natural light now that it’s summer- These bright nights don’t last long
3.Whenever you need new an new electrical appliance- look for an energy efficient model.
4.Switch you light bulbs to energy efficient ones
5.Support your local economy and shop at a farmers market close to you. Like St. George’s Market in Belfast
6.Turn off your computer completely at night- not just the monitor
7.Pay your utility bills online if possible. This is not only more eco friendly but saves a lot more of your time
8.Reuse scrap paper. When you’re printing, print o both sides. Let kids colour in on scrap paper.
9.Support local restaurants that source food from less than 100 miles away
10.Make your own household cleaners
11.Line dry your laundry now that the summer in here. The clothes always smell more fresh too
12.Lower the temperature on your water heater
13.Unplug unused chargers and plugs
14.Collect rainwater and use it water your houseplants and garden. We get plenty of it in Northern Ireland so this shouldn’t be a problem.
15.Use cloth instead of paper to clean your house. Make these cloths out of old rags
